Wendy’s story
EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
In 1993, Wendy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, USA – the city where she was born and raised. Wendy comes from a family of healthcare professionals, so pursuing medicine was a natural choice.
She went on to work in Albuquerque and nearby Santa Fe, pursuing further training at the same time – in Dental Endoscopy (Perioscopy), for example – and having the honour of having one of her cases published in an American Periodontal textbook in 2015. She is a well-regarded lecturer, and has trained dental hygienists both in the USA and here in New Zealand.
MOVING TO NEW ZEALAND
After marrying a Kiwi, Wendy moved to New Zealand 22 years ago, working mainly in Auckland before eventually joining the team at Kowhai Dental in 2019.
Outside of work, she enjoys walking and spending time with her grandchildren.
